
Description: We need volunteer interviewers to interview volunteers who are looking for a placement. The volunteers come from all backgrounds, all ages and with a wide range of skills, interests and motivations. The interviewers need to discover what motivates this diverse range of people and find the right placement for them, if indeed volunteering is the right choice.
When Required: Mon-Fri Day - Commitment: Part Time
Areas of Interest: Disability, Drugs and Addictions, Elderly, Employment, Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transsexual, Mental Health, Millennium Volunteers, Race and Ethnicity and Refugees, Religion, Youth
Types of Activity: Advice, Information and Support,
Skills and Qualifications: You need patience, listening skills and to enjoy working with people. The role is ideally suited to someone interested in counselling i.e. a student on an introduction to counselling course or students on Social care courses. This is not necessary though, the most important asset is to be non judgemental and keen to help the potential volunteers find their ideal situation. Some admin skills are necessary as records need to kept, a knowledge of data basing and an understanding of confidentiality issues.
