Gloucester Volunteer Centre is accredited by Volunteering England

Gloucester Volunteer Centre assists voluntary organisations to set up, manage and evaluate their own volunteer programmes.  The volunteers’ time and abilities can then be a valuable resource so that the organisation can achieve maximum efficiency. The Volunteer Centre is also the place to attract the volunteers with the skills and enthusiasm needed for your project.

Latest News

GAVCA has recently achieved two awards from Volunteering England in recognition of the work of the Gloucester Volunteer Centre: Investing in Volunteers and Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation.

How the volunteer centre can help you

help local voluntary and community organisations increase their capacity to use volunteers by:

  • Brokerage - we support and advise potential volunteers to match them to the appropriate volunteering opportunity.
  • Marketing volunteering - we promote volunteering through supporting events locally, regionally and nationally. We have a good relationship with the local media and publicity materials to promote volunteering.
  • Good Practice Development - we work one to one and hold training events for organisations on good practice in working with volunteers.
  • Developing Volunteering Opportunities - we work with organisations in the voluntary, community and private sector to develop the potential of volunteering in the community. We are active in supporting organisations to implement their Equal Opportunities or Diversity policies to encourage a more diverse source of volunteers and expand volunteering to groups who traditionally face barriers to volunteering.
  • Policy Response and Campaigning - we hold information on current issues affecting volunteering. We work with and react to all the agencies that develop policies which impact on volunteering.
  • Strategic Development of Volunteering -  we are actively involved with implementing the County’s plans within the Government’s ChangeUp programme and the Compact Code on Volunteering.
