1 Background

Transforming Local Infrastructure is a fund that is being administered by the Big Fund (the non Lottery arm of the Big Lottery Fund) for the Office of Civil Society (OCS), Cabinet Office.

In order to enable people to take more responsibility for their lives and communities, the Government want frontline civil society organisations (the VCS) to get the best local support possible. Its recent consultation showed that some of the infrastructure organisations that provide this support are highly valued but that there is also inconsistent quality, unnecessary duplication and fragmentation of resources and there is general agreement that local infrastructure organisations need to change and develop the way they work. This fund is therefore designed to be a catalyst for change to adapt to the new economic realities and the changing needs of frontline groups.
