GAVCA's Policies for Small or New Organisations

When you start a new organisation there always seems to be a lot of administration and bureaucracy. Once you have set your constitution or set of rules, and organised public liability insurance, then the most important thing is to make sure that your managing committee get to grips with developing policies for the organisation.

Working on policies and getting them right for your organisation means that all your managing committee really understand the work that you want to do, and that they are committed to working within best practice and the law.

Below is a set of seven sample policies which are the basic ones that you need to know about. Feel free to download these policies and adapt them to the needs of your own organisation.

Each policy has an introduction that explains the background to the policy, considerations for your organisation, any recent changes and website contacts for further information. Of the seven samples given, the Equal Opportunities, Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection and Health and Safety policies are part of best legal practice for any organisation.

For a full list of sample policies, visit the Policies A to Z page.
