SW Transport Enquiry - Only 6% of regional capital investment going to public transport
The South West Transport Enquiry invited regional stakeholders to answer some of the big questions facing transport in the region.
Members heard that the South West has the most congestion of any UK region, the most expensive train fares, the worst access to bus travel and some of the greatest disparity of access to transport facilities.
A key theme was the failure of the most recent Regional Funding Allocation (RFA) to take account of national and regional policy on sustainable transport, health and the transition to a low carbon economy. The RFA prioritises our capital investment in transport.
