Gloucestershire Community Foundation
The main criteria is to overcome disadvantage in both urban and rural areas, in particular to create opportunities for people to get back to work, help people to be involved in their communities, especially single person households. Support is given to voluntary groups who overcome disruption of communities; particularly those disrupted by crime and drugs.

The Langtree Trust
Aims to disburse the income from funds held where the trustees consider the need is most effectively shown. Grants are preferably made direct, and not through other charities. Anyone who lives in Gloucestershire can apply, groups and organisations usually benefit, but occasionally individuals may do so, if this benefits the community. Priority is given to church projects, youth groups, the disabled and the disadvantaged. Projects and equipment are preferred. Running costs especially wages are not favoured. Mainstream education is not usually considered. Grants range from £50 to £1000.

Summerfield Charitable Trust
Makes grants to charities based in Gloucestershire or engaged in projects that is of specific benefit to residents of the County. It favours: Arts projects; the needs of those living in rural areas; ventures which make a point of using volunteers; joint appeals from groups working in similar areas who wish to develop a partnership; and those who are promoting excellence in a given field. It prefers applicants who:
• show clear indications that they have assessed the impact of their projects upon the environment;
• schemes that indicate planning for long term self-sufficiency;
• projects that demonstrate active involvement with the beneficiaries.
The trustees prefer to award one-off grants to help fund specific projects rather than to make payments for revenue items. Individuals are only very rarely supported.

BBC Children in Need
Seeks to fund voluntary organisations (properly constituted, with a bank account and active committee) that show they listen to children and take account of their needs and views. In particular to help children who are disabled, ill or living in situations of abuse, neglect or distress, and who may be suffering poverty or situations of deprivation, or have a psychological or behavioural problems. Grants are made in two round - Closing date 30 November and 30 March and can be for capital or revenue funding up to three years.

Zurich Cares
Aims to work with people who face poverty, disadvantage, physical or mental distress, and help them achieve real improvement in the quality of their lives. Support can be given in three way - through monetary grants, volunteers or the donation of business skills. Organisations within a thirty-mile radius of Cheltenham are supported, and can be for core or revenue funding, project, capital or service.

The Scarman Trust
A national charity committed to helping citizens bring about change in their community, in the way that they want. The Scarman Trust has opened an office in Bristol that will direct all of their work in the South West region of England.
It operates two trusts:
• Community Champions (for all adults)

Severn Sound Money Mountain
Severn Sound Money Mountain, run by the radio station, raises money exclusively for Gloucestershire charities and community groups. Since it was established in 1991, it has raised over £1.1million. In 2004 Money Mountain gave out 40 grants ranging from a couple of hundred pounds to a few thousand.
